The Junction
COVENANT CHURCH AT THE JUNCTION - South Slocan/Playmor Junction
Planted on September 18th, 2005
The Junction of Hwy 3A and Hwy 6 is a unique crossroad, encompassing many wonderful small communities from the Slocan Valley to Nelson and Castlegar. The Covenant Church at the Junction recognizes this and it is their prayer that people from all these places will feel free to come and learn about Jesus and the forgiveness and freedom He offers.

Nelson Sunday Morning
History
The Covenant has a long, rich history in Nelson. Our church was born in the hearts of Scandinavians over 75 years ago who could not feel at home without gathering together to worship God. The church grew and overflowed from the original site on Baker Street to its current location in 1985. Through all the physical renovations, the people have faithfully built upon the solid foundation of Jesus. Our Sunday Morning service has also commissioned people to start the Balfour and Saturday Night congregations.
What to expect
-Our Nelson Sunday morning service is a blended service with a balance of hymns and praise songs
-We offer nursery and a Sunday School for children.
-Sermons are relevant to today and offer encouragement for daily living and growth in Christ.
-Pastor Jim Minturn is the primary pastor for this church.
Balfour
The Balfour congregation began in 1996, as Nelson congregation members who lived on the North Shore had a vision for a church in their community. Several families were commissioned to begin a work in Balfour, and services commenced in the Balfour Community Hall. The work grew and, after 4 years, land was purchased on Upper Balfour Road, a church was designed and construction began in November of 2000. Over that winter our own people, as well as many volunteers from the community, worked side-by-side building the first church in Balfour in over 100 years. The opening service was held in the new sanctuary on Easter Sunday, April 15th, 2001.
Nelson Saturday NITE
History
In 1998, the Nelson Sunday morning congregation was running out of seating room, so we commissioned over 80 people to start a Saturday evening congregation.
Today it continues to grow as we strive to provide a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that is centered around Jesus. Lifting up Jesus in a contagious manner, providing contemporary worship music, fellowship and excellent children's ministry are top priorities.
